Info refinery #1: I'll just start with this
This is the first issue of the Info refinery. Welcome on board! In these early stages, I would be very happy to hear about your comments, ideas or whatever you like.
I am going to be honest, this newsletter is for myself, I like to learn new things, investigate topics that interest me, and I am making that process public by this newsletter. It will be divided into different sections in each issue depending on what I have been doing. However as knowledge is not inherently personal but transferable, I hope that many of you can find something of value here as well
What have I learned?
If you are not used to work from home and are required to work from home now, don’t fall into thinking that you are unable to do it if you are constantly distracted. This is an extraordinary situation with the COVID and even for people used to work from home for years is challenging.
Solving hard problems feels great, but is so frustrating to encounter new challenges after solving them (welcome to the coding world).
In Finland, start-up grants are granted for entrepreneurs that quit their job to make their company (link with great advice about freelancing in Finland)
Interesting stuff from the web
Have you surrendered to the magic of text expanders? (link)
Text expanders allow you to create rules based on what you write, to automatize things you write very often, such as your address, phone, email, etc.
If you are interested in philosophy check the Stanford encyclopedia of philosophy. (link)
Email pixel tracking, this allows people to see when, how many times and even where someone has opened your email. Where you even aware of this? This is again a case where technology can be used for illegitimate purposes. (link)
Food for thought
“We suffer more in imagination than in reality” - Seneca
Often attention goes to people that find success overnight, but these moments are often the result of many previous actions, which build up the potential required to unleash a major change. This is from the book Atomic Habits, which is making me question many things about goal setting, habits, and even happiness.

Which are the most rectangular counties of Finland?
Thanks for sticking, and I hope to see you in the next issues!
